With the development of the world,increasingly young people get better education in universities.Nowadays,university lifes tend to be an essential part of people’life.However,the relative importance of the function of an university is a frequent topic of discussion when people try to find whether universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace or give access to knowledge for its own sake.I personally agree with the second point.
Actually,universities are special schools which play an important role in teaching students knowledge ande skills.They arrange courses according to the professors’teaching experience and the research about students’accessable ability.
It is quite reasonable and useful for young people to acquire different types of knowledge and skills,which can not only enhance their personal quality ,but also broaden their future career areas.In other words,individuals learn a vast number of skills which are not only for their employment ,but for their whole life.If universities only train their students to be an excellent employee,people’creative ability will tend to die out.
However, there are a sizable percentage of people assert that universities should teach students more practical knowledge and skills,so that they can get good work opportunities after they are graduated.There are quantities of young people learn numerous techniques which is limited use in their future work .And there are also some employers complain that their staff know a lot of theories,they can analyse the problem in a theoretical method instead of do it in a practical way.Moreover,they point out that universities should change their teaching structures, as partly of the skills taught by universities are out of date.
All in all,universities need some new attempts actually,for example,combining theoretical learning and practical use together,so that students can know better about the purpose of learning and acquire knowledge and skills more effectively. |
